Dear relatives and friends,
in June 2010, I will do my high school. After that I want to do my community service in an international voluntary service ("weltwärts") in Costa Rica.
It is a major concern to help disadvantaged people and responsible to the new program "weltwärts the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to participate. So that I can contribute to sustainable development.
this form of community service is organized by "Association AFS Intercultural Programs", which I already had 2 years ago participated in an exchange year in the U.S.. AFS is one of the largest and oldest non-profit youth exchange organizations worldwide and support of youth welfare.
committed since my exchange year I volunteer at AFS. During this time, my interest in intercultural encounters and development policy Work has grown ever stronger. Therefore, the decision for me to apply for a development volunteer was logical for me and obvious. Weltwärts services "to promote the commitment to a sustainable world and see themselves as service learning, intercultural exchange of young people in enabling developing countries."
Probably I will, on 2 begin in July 2010 for my flight to San Jose, Costa Rica. My applications are in support of educational work with children and young people, and campaigns to fight poverty and the promotion of health and environmental awareness (eg, alcohol and drug abuse, HIV prevention) are.
The cost for the volunteer can not complete by weltwärts and AFS be worn. This becomes clear when one considers the cost of the service: flights, insurance, accommodation, meals, supervision, and follow-up quickly add up to a considerable amount. 75% of this sum is worn by weltwärts .
Therefore, it is provided that build up the volunteers in the preparation phase, a Sponsors from relatives, acquaintances, friends and other sponsors, from which they are supported financially and morally. Thus, should the voluntary service each be enabled, which will make this - regardless of parental income. The moral support is part of the basic idea of voluntary service. In this case, the experiences of the volunteers do not stay in the "small circle" of our families. Instead, cross-cultural exchange to reach the widest possible group of people.
