come Slowly already native feelings when einbiegt after a long and not always safe ride on South African roads in the cozy Dabula Street. Today we had a hair flying around a bar hit by a truck on the highway. Man runs over the often almost a street dog or sometimes an already dead. To eight in a small Fiat Uno, by 30cm deep potholes through, past dead people on the streets ... all this is somehow normal. South Africa just! Currently we have no water
... throughout the orphanage not, and nobody knows why. But we had a power failure, because no one had bought time prepaid electricity.
In the last few days two more volunteers arrived, now we are seven - only one is still missing. Meanwhile it is also really tight in our apartment. Although here are only five beds, but also our kitchen and sitting area and in the evening when everyone is here to fit we are hardly concerned about the kids' table, let alone on the sofa ... viewing a film, so you have to remain trapped for two hours and hope that no one spasm haunts. Non smoking
The protection does not stop even in front of our flat: The girls want a ban on shisha-smoking (hookah) to introduce ... only 2-3 times a week ... but we have not hit enter! ;-)
We were once again with our "new" by the sea and it was wonderful!
Always nice to feel the wind, hear the sound of the waves: to see whales. Yes, we saw whales! Way out on the horizon, the huge animals were jumping out of the water with a big splash again fallen into the sea. And then water fountains.
Another time have Johanna and I have to make a pickup truck and the "table view" vantage point have placed a stop and watched the sunset.
If we here in Khayelitsha, or in the neighboring township Mitchell's Plain (Coloured township) to go shopping, you will know as staring as it would apply in Germany as racism, when it is a black man would do as well.
It's just a rarity. A Regaleinräumer in the "Pick 'n Pay supermarket (similar to buying land) is always happy when we come and want to talk to us. He's happy just with the only white people who go shopping there, to be known.
Germany is so far away. I (a regular evening news-watching), I'm only little for the news in the world. You get in here - except over the Internet - anything with more than Olympics, politics and disasters. And if you read something ("CSU fights left") it sounds so strange and unreal, all the way to Legoland.
It really is beautiful here in South Africa and I would like at the end of the year dranhängen a month and travel around the country. Therefore, I must observe the "Home Affairs Department to extend my visa ... hopefully it works! But until then I have to save lots of money.
much from Khayelitsha,
so long ....
Freddie
